The principal security unit of the state, the Police, is responsible for maintaining law & order in the streets of Octavium. Unlike the rest of the Legion, their responsibilities primarily are civil as opposed to doing loyalty checks or focusing on state security. With the duty of protecting the state through cleaning up the streets, the Police is ready to work night and day to ensure the safety of the Imperium.
## History
The Police is the oldest formation of the Legion by its own paper. Its first Roblox group, Legionary Police of Octavium, was created on 8 July 2025, two days after Aleczaender was deposed on July 6. The launch notice of 9 July told new arrivals to choose between the Order, the State Police and the Legionary Guard, and the division opened its Discord server the same day, one day after the Imperium's own server. No other cohort of the Legion keeps a server that old. The group the Cohort holds now was created on 3 August 2025 and bound to the server on 4 August.
By August 2025 the Legionary Police described itself as the manpower division of the Orderstate and the primary force defending Zaenderism and Madrid. Recruits were taken by direct message from the Dominus Praetor and the Dux Praetor. On 6 September the division put its own message bot into service so that command could call every policeman to Battleground Madrid at once, and it was used constantly through that autumn.
The Police carried the Gendarmerie. From at least August 2025 the Gendarmerie was a century of the Legionary Police and not a division, and on 7 September its Century Leader Warriorlo4444 ordered it to military police duty and to hold the border against raiders and rogues. The recruitment notices of October 2025 offered three centuries: the Gendarmerie, called the sword of the interior and worked as a field police force; the Riot Century, trained in shield formations and crowd suppression; and the Watchguard Century, which patrolled the districts and upheld the Lex Octavium. By November the division was using the motto Order, Duty, Sacrifice, and the principle Ordo per Fortitudinem, order through strength. By January 2026 it ran four centuries, Sentinel, Gendarmerie, Watchguard and Investigation, the last of these taking breaches that fell below the Inquisition's threshold.
The Imperial Restoration of June 2026 took the Gendarmerie away. The Gendarmeric was raised as a division of the Army in its own right, with a Roblox group created on 4 June 2026 and a server of its own on 9 June, and the Police has kept no Gendarmerie century since. The Legionary Police became the Police Cohort of Octavium under the Legion, its server rebuilt from the universal divisional template on 5 June and the Legion rank roles added on 1 July. Its centuries are now Rapid, Border and Watch. Quotas for enlisted and officers were published on 19 June 2026, and the Centurion's Instruction Book was issued by Dux Praetor ViktorVonWittelsbach on 20 July from the Octavium State Security Headquarters in Madrid.
